Besides the absolute annoyance
of biting mosquitoes, there are an alarming number of
serious illnesses being transmitted by the ever persistent
little mosquito. Mosquito born diseases are becoming all
too familiar to all of us. Stories of these diseases are
now regular news events both locally and nationally. |

Of the approximately 200
species of mosquitoes in the United States there are three
genera that should be of particular interest to humans
because of the diseases they carry (please see pictures at
right). Certain species in each of these genera are known
to carry diseases. Below are links to information about
some of the diseases that are harmful and sometimes fatal. |
